Dr. Annabel Austin grew up in Bethesda and earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Smith College in Massachusetts. She then returned to Maryland and spent a year doing research at the National Institutes of Health before starting veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. She continued to pursue scientific research between semesters at vet school, spending summers at the University of Wisconsin, Madison as well as at the National Wildlife Health Center.
After graduating from Penn, she started her career in a busy veterinary ER in northern Virginia before transitioning to primary care. Her interests include internal medicine and dermatology; but when she’s not at work, Dr. Austin enjoys spending time outside! Her favorite activities are running, birding, and hiking, especially when she can bring along her dog, Rigby, who has been with her since vet school.
